From the age of 10 he began working in his families store. At 15 he worked for 3 years in his uncles drug store. At 18 he moved to Canandaigua and worked in the post office. At 23 he married Mary Ann Mills and moved to Niagara falls. Two years later, in 1845, Alexis and Mary move to Caledonia. The next year Alexis opened AC BUCKS drug store in downtown Caledonia. It was located on the west side of Argyle between the bridge and Caithness. AC BUCK was a very well known and very successful business man.
