The next year Alexis opened AC BUCKS drug store in downtown Caledonia. It was located on the west side of Argyle between the bridge and Caithness. AC BUCK was a very well known and very successful business man. He was a public notary, justice of the peace, issued marriage licenses, was the agent for several insurance companies and created The Ontario Savings Bank. He was one of the few who could afford to have his home featured in the boarder of the 1863 Map of the County of Haldimand. Ann was very active in the community and woman's groups. Ann spearheaded the fundraising to buy the towns first fire engine. Together they had 3 children: Cameron A Buck, Mortimer C Buck and Orin C Buck. The Bucks were a very important part of Caledonia community for 43 years. In 1883 Alexis sold all his properties and business in Caledonia and moved to Rochester New York. Ann passed away a year later in 1884.
He lived in Rochester and operated a drug store with his son until 1906. On Jan 06 1906 Alexis passed away at 2 pm at the age of 87. The local Shortsville newspaper reported that it was "caused by a general breaking down of the system due to old age. "
